After copious amounts of food and drink and with cold weather putting pay to any outdoor activities, the television provides an obvious choice of distraction. So Christmas provides an excellent opportunity for TV companies to promote their production wares with a higher than average audience expecting its seasonal treats.

This Christmas promised no exception. As with such quantity of audience, the commerciality of TV was ever present with the array of cheap programs, hours upon hours of soaps such as East Enders, Coronation Street, etc. together with an array of movies, some premiering on TV others, for the countless time. Yet Xmas 2010 also saw some shows on the box that are well worthy of mention.

A Smattering of Festive Treats

Doctor Who returned for the annual Christmas special with a Dickensian themed Doctor Who in a twist on a Christmas Carol. In his usual positive and charismatic style, the Doctor saved a spaceship from annihilation and a grumpy old man’s soul in the process.
