Teachers who teach middle school or teachers at any level can learn more about the current technology by going back to school. Teachers who have technology expertise can add interest to most lessons and can help students keep up with the fast, ever changing technology.
Many middle school students have been working with computers since they were toddlers. Some middle school students are more computer savvy than their teachers. So, becoming knowledgeable about new technology can help teachers engage students more in their lessons. Also, the skills can help teachers reach student who may be bored by the "old school" types of instruction.
Instructional Technology Degree, Endorsement or License
Before one can find a technology job, one must have the qualifications, correct license or endorsement. Each state has different requirements. Teachers need to check on their state's requirements. However, many have similar add-on licenses/endorsements for a Technology Coordinator. In Wisconsin, it is called the ITC license, or Instructional Technology Coordinator license. In Oklahoma, teachers can obtain a Career and Technology license.
