LSU won the overall SEC regular season title with a 13-3 conference record, second place Auburn finished three games behind in SEC West.

South Carolina and Tennessee tied atop the SEC East but the Vols received the number one seed in the SEC conference tournament due to their two wins over the Gamecocks including a 16-point drubbing in their last match-up. Auburn beat out Mississippi State by one game for the second seed in the SEC West.

2009 SEC Conference Tournament

The SEC figures to earn at least four bids to the NCAA tournament and as many as six depending on the results of the conference tournament. The Florida Gators are a bubble team and with 22 wins they seem like a good bet to qualify. However, they have only nine wins in conference play; the NCAA tournament committee tends to favor teams who have won double digit conference games. Tennessee was close to locking up a bid at home Sunday but lost a heartbreaker at the buzzer to Alabama.
