Although the Tucson Festival of Books was launched only three years ago, it has already become one of the best free events in Tucson. The 2011 book festival is expected to feature more than 400 authors and attract some 100,000 visitors, making it the fourth-largest literary festival in the country.
2011 Tucson Festival of Books
The 2011 Tucson Festival of Books is held at the University of Arizona in the city center, throughout the weekend of March 12-13. Both admission and parking are free.
A caravan of white tents spreads along the sunny, palm-lined mall which runs through the middle of the university campus, housing stalls of new and used books, food courts, and outdoor stages. The open-air setting provides a relaxed atmosphere for authors to meet their fans and perhaps gain some new ones at book signings, readings and panel discussions.
